Pie + Cake = Pake ( Boston Cream Pake Recipe)

So the girls and I have been catching up on Drop Dead Diva and thought Stacey’s idea of a Pake was worth investigating and experimenting with. I found some info and a recipe from the Network at http://www.mylifetime.com/shows/drop-dead-diva/blog/make-your-own-pake
But I had to quickly take snapshots from my phone because the page kept disappearing!!! I’ll include snapshots of the ingredients and directions from the site in case you have the same problem.
We wanted a Boston Cream Pake, though, so I found a Boston Cream Pie recipe at http://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/boston-cream-pie-2 and used it as my main recipe and adapted it to the Pake recipe. I used a wegmans refrigerated pie crust, but next time it needs a sweeter crust. Maybe I’ll make one from scratch. Also, the bake time on the Pake recipe said 35 minutes at 350 and then drop oven down to 325 for 12-15 minutes. The cake was done after 35 min at 350 but the crust wasn’t quite golden brown. I changed it to 30 min at 350 and then 15 at 325. I would recommend checking it. The chocolate glaze was perfect and the pudding was good. You can pretty much adapt it any way you want. Something new, the kids had fun, we all enjoyed it and my DH ate two pieces! Here are pics!
